What is Hospice?
Hospice services are for people who have a prognosis of six months or less to live. With pain relief and symptom control, hospice patients can live their final days to the fullest, surrounded by loved ones and the things they cherish. Please visit the Heart of Hospice website for more specific information on Hospice care in the Columbia Gorge.

Professionals Come to the Patient
The Heart-To-Heart Care Team of highly trained professionals and caring volunteers come to visit terminally ill people who live at home, in nursing homes, hospitals or veterans homes to help patients and their families with the medical, social, emotional and spiritual concerns that often arise during a life-threatening illness. Volunteers also offer support, encouragement and much-needed “breaks” to at-home care givers.
Not Limited to Cancer Patients
Hospice is available to any adult, child or infant with an advanced illness and a limited life expectancy. A physician must order the service.
Who Pays?
Medicare and Medicaid both pay 100% of the contracted fee. Most private insurers also offer a hospice benefit. 100% of donations to the Heart of Hospice Foundation go to patients needing financial assistance. Heart of Hospice never charges for patient care. No co-pay, no deductibles.
